¡°I love him. I love him with all my heart. And I tried my best to make a deeply broken relationship work. And I couldn¡¯t. I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all. I know that might be hard to understand, or it might be really easy to understand. If you have just ever loved anyone, it should be easy,¡± said Heard.
When asked about her op-ed in the Washington Post, which was at the center of Depp's USD 50 million defamation suit, Amber responded,
¡°The op-ed wasn¡¯t about my relationship with Johnny. What the op-ed was about was me loaning my voice to a bigger cultural conversation that we were having at the time.¡±
In the interview on Wednesday, after Savannah Gutherie asked Heard about a text in which Depp threatened her "total global humiliation," she commented on her public image.

"I'm not a good victim, and I get it," she said. "I'm not a likable victim, I'm not a perfect victim. But when I testified, I asked the jury to see me and hear his own words, which is a promise to do this."
"I did say and do regrettable things throughout my relationship. I behaved in horrible, unrecognizable to myself ways ¡ª so much regret. I freely and openly talked about what I did. The horrible language, being pushed to the extent of not knowing the difference between right and wrong. I will always continue to feel like I was part of this, the other half of this relationship, and it was ugly."
After a six-week trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, a seven-member jury ruled on June 1 that Depp had proved that Heard intentionally defamed him in the 2018 op-ed.
Depp had claimed that he never abused Heard and that she hurt him physically.
Due to a Virginia rule limiting punitive damages, the jury awarded Depp USD 15 million in damages. Still, Heard will only have to pay USD 10.35 million (the judge reduced the amount). According to People magazine, Heard won one of the three defamation claims in her countersuit and was given USD 2 million in damages.
