Kareena Kapoor Khan wants to 'explore' K-dramas: From Kang Mo-yeon in DOTS to Yoon Se-ri in CLOY, 5 roles we think she would have nailed
Kareena Kapoor Khan has delivered many memorable roles¡ªfrom Chameli to Poo¡ªproving her versatility is her superpower. But what if she were a Hallyu star? Well, she is not (yet); however, there are five roles that we believe she would have killed.
K-drama lovers, raise your Soju glasses - Kareena Kapoor Khan has entered the chat. The Bollywood diva, who has been making waves in Indian cinema, one film at a time, recently revealed that she wants to be a part of a K-drama. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit, the Indian superstar expressed her desire to push the envelope as an actor, transcending the language barriers. She admitted that she is totally on board with the K-drama frenzy and would love to be a part of one. "I would love to explore Korean dramas because the world is watching their series and films. So hugely popular," she said.
Kareena's confession now has our imaginations running wild. Being the icon that she is, the Bollywood star has delivered many memorable roles¡ªfrom Chameli to Poo¡ªproving her versatility is her superpower. But what if Kareena were a Hallyu star? Well, she is not (yet); however, there are five roles that we believe she would have killed.
Kang Mo-yeon (Descendants of the Sun)
Kang Meo-yeon, played by Song Hye-kyo, paved the way for strong female characters in K-dramas. A confident, self-reliant surgeon who doesn't compromise her values, Kang's kindness and concern for others, especially in crises, make her one of the most iconic K-drama female leads. Given Kareena's intensity and emotional range, we are confident she would have done justice to this incredibly well-written character.
Song Hye-kyo's performance in The Glory is unforgettable, cementing her position as one of Korea's finest actresses. If anyone from Bollywood were to match her footsteps, Kareena Kapoor Khan going rogue to seek revenge on her childhood bullies would have been one visual spectacle to watch.
Yoon Se-ri (Crash Landing on You)
Yoon Se-ri, played by Son Ye-jin, was an embodiment of elegance, poise, and dramatic flair. Kareena bringing her Bollywood flair would have added another layer to this unforgettable character.
Sung Deok-mi (Her Private Life)
As much as we love Sung Deok-mi for embracing her true blue fangirl self, we also admire her professional ethics, chic outfits, and oh-so-hot chemistry with Ryan (read Lion) Gold. Kareena's expertise in portraying strong, independent women with a dash of drama would have helped her bring Sung Deok-mi's journey to life.
Oh Dong-baek (When the Camelia Blooms)
Oh Dong-baek, portrayed by Gong Hyo-jin, is a love letter to womanhood. A single mother raising her standards along with her kid after a betrayal from her former husband encouraged conversation on feminism in Korean dramas. With her powerful screen presence, Kareena Kapoor Khan, in our humble opinion, would have done wonders as Oh Dong-baek.
