Chamkila, Coachella & More! Story Of Diljit Dosanjh, Son Of Bus Driver Who Earned Rs 5000 A Month
Here's the struggle story of Diljit Dosanjh, from humble beginnings to global acclaim. Dosanjh's roots remain grounded, stemming from his upbringing as the son of a bus driver in Punjab. His musical journey began at local gurdwara and went ahead to historic performance at Coachella. The singer-actor has proved his acting mettle with his recently released movie Amar Singh Chamkila.
Startling honest, remarkably humble and refreshingly self-deprecating, Diljit Dosanjh is a delight to watch. Whether on screen, stage, or in candid interviews, he bares his heart with unfiltered sincerity. He is undoubtedly a star, perhaps even a bigger one, but his humility never wavers.
Do you know he is the son of a bus driver?
Diljit comes from a humble background. He was born into a Sikh family in 1984 in the village of Dosanjh Kalan in Phillaur tehsil, Jalandhar district, Punjab. His father Balbir Singh worked as a bus driver in Punjab roadways and would earn Rs 5000 a month. His mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, was a homemaker.
He spent his childhood in Dosanjh Kalan. When he was just 11 years old, he relocated to Ludhiana, Punjab, where he pursued his education and later graduated from Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School. He was angry at his parents for sending him away. So much so, that this move had him lose connection with his parents. He began singing when he was in school.
