Priyanka Chopra often makes headlines for her witty replies to the media or inspiring speeches. The Desi Girl is once again in limelight, after giving an inspirational speech at a pre-Oscars bash organised to celebrate South Asian excellence in films.
The actress arrived for the event dressed in a black saree and looked absolutely gorgeous. Fans showered love on the actress as she chose to wear the classic six yards for the party.
Priyanka, who co-hosted the celebrations with Anjula Acharia, Bela Bajaria, Maneesh K. Goya and Shruti Ganguly, shared pictures from the event on Instagram.
"What a special honor it was to cohost a pre-oscar celebration honoring this year¡¯s 10 South Asian Oscar nominees, and the friends, family, and colleagues who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make all of this possible. Last night gave me all the feels, and filled me with so much pride for how far our community has come. The future of entertainment is looking bright. Special thanks to @anjula_acharia and @maneeshkgoyal for having this idea and the cohosts who came together to make an unprecedented evening like this possible. Wishing the nominees so much luck on Sunday! Bring home the gold," she captioned the post.
Priyanka Chopra's speech from the party held at Beverly Hills on Wednesday has now gone viral. The actress can be seen talking about how she came to America looking for work a decade ago, and how she stands among 'peers and colleagues' today and is no longer 'somebody else'.
"Each and everyone of you are here today because you are excellent in what you do. I came ten years ago and started looking for work in America," she said. Priyanka then spoke about how she and others were among the 'very few brown people at a party'.
She added, ¡°We went out there and met everyone else. But today, I am not someone else. Today, I stand amongst peers, amongst colleagues, amongst South Asian excellence. I have goosebumps, I am emotional, it makes me very proud.
Priyanka also shared that she 'hasn't been stepping out of her home much' (due to her newborn baby girl) but came at the event to say that she is 'highly proud to be rubbing shoulders with everyone' and to be 'encouraging the people present in the room'.
Priyanka Chopra was last seen in Keanu Reeves' The Matrix Resurrections. Up next, the actress has films like Ending Things, Text For You, and Bollywood's Jee Le Zara in the pipeline.
