While two divas wearing the same outfit is nothing unheard of in the world of Bollywood, but also sparks fascination when it happens. Last night Rakul Preet Singh turned up at the IIFA 2024 Utsavam in a black gown that immediately reminded us of Samantha Ruth Prabhu's repurposed wedding dress.

From Ananya Panday's mesmerizing saree to Mrunal Thakur's eye-catching Gaurav Gupta number, the night saw great looks.
However, when actress Rakul Preet Singh turned up on the green carpet, her black off-shoulder gown immediately set off a feeling of deja vu. Samantha Ruth Prabhu repurposed the gown that she wore when she got married to Naga Chaitanya in 2017. Following the duo's divorce in 2021, Samatha no longer felt the need to keep her dress as is and transformed it into a black dress with a thigh-high slit in a bold move to practice sustainable fashion. She took the help of her go-to designer Kresha Bajaj, who was the mind behind the dress' transformation!
The diva wore the re-purposed dress at the Elle Sustainability Awards 2024 where she was also awarded. Her repurposed dress is made up of an off-the-shoulder bodice with delicate black embellishments, styled in a geometric pattern. The bodice distends into a floor-length, flowy skirt which also features pleated detailing on the waist and embellishments on one side.
To style her look, Samantha opted for a goth-style, beaded choker which perfectly matched the aesthetic of her asymmetrical gown. Her other accessories included two diamond rings, worn on the middle fingers. For her makeup, the diva went with a dramatic look featuring dramatic smokey eyes, defined brows, expertly contoured cheeks, shimmery highlighter and a glossy nude lip. Lastly, she styled her short her with curls and let then cascade down her back.

Coming to the De De Pyaar De actress, she also took the help of designer Kresha Bajaj for her attire and wore a piece called 'Obsidian' from her collection. The gown features the same corset that Samantha's outfit had. And while Samantha's corset featured embellishments from her wedding dress, this one is adorned with black glass beads inspired by the revered Egyptian black stone. The corset flows into a semi-sheer A-line gown made from tulle fabric.
Coming to the styling of her attire, Rakul Preet went with striking accessories to make a statement at the star-studded event. She wore a pair of bohemian-style, gold-toned, dangling earrings that elevated her simple black gown. Even her makeup was equally on point with a dewy base achieved using blush pink eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, mascara-coated lashes, filled-in brows, rosy cheeks and a mauve-toned glossy lip. She also applied highlighter to emphasize the high points of her face as well as her collarbones and shoulders. Lastly, she styled her hair in a high bun with front banks, which further emphasised her collarbones in the off-the-shoulder outfit.
