These allergic reactions can be mild or severe or can even be life-threatening in some cases. Sometimes these food allergy symptoms can appear within minutes of consuming the food or after several hours. So, watch out for these common food allergy symptoms.
Mild symptoms
- Eczema
- Hives
- Swelling around the face, lips, eyes or tongue
- Change in voice due to swelling of the voice box
- Dizziness
- Stomach cramps
- Diarrhea
- Cold like symptoms
- Nausea
Severe symptoms
- Drastic change in pulse rate
- Loss of consciousness
- Trouble breathing
- Severe drop in blood pressure
- Chest pain
- Severe obstructive swelling around the lips, tongue, and/or throat
Such severe symptoms are often signs of anaphylaxis and may require urgent treatment.
