Sandalwood or chandan has been an age old remedy for most skincare problems. This natural ingredient can be incorporated in several ways to treat and beautify your skin. Right from treating pimples to giving you that healthy glow, here are a few uses of sandalwood in your beauty regime.
To treat acne
Mix one tablespoon of sandalwood powder with half a teaspoon on turmeric powder and a little milk or water till it forms a thick paste. Use this paste on your acne and allow it to rest for about 30 minutes before you wash it off. This traditional acne remedy has proven to be quite useful over time.
For dry skin
Sandalwood oil when applied to dry skin is a good remedy to treat flaky and dry skin. You can also use sandalwood powder mixed with some milk on your face to make it supple and soft.
To remove a tan
Sandalwood has the property to soothe sunburned skin. Mix sandalwood powder with some coconut oil and almond oil to prepare a face mask that will fade a tan.
For wrinkles and saggy skin
Sandalwood can also be incorporated in a face mask that wards off wrinkles and saggy skin. Mix together egg yolk, honey, sandalwood powder and lavender essential oil to prepare this face mask. Apply it a few times a week to keep away these early signs of ageing.
For soft and glowing skin
Sandalwood is also a good remedy for soft and glowing skin. All you need to do is give your face a good massage with sandalwood oil. You can also use sandalwood powder by mixing it to any other massage oil and leaving it to rest for 12 hours. After that you can use this oil to massage your face.
