If I remember any part of my childhood vividly, it¡¯s the summer vacation I sent at my Nani¡¯s house. The days were filled with laughter, good food and so many mangoes, but the one thing that will always be associated with my Nani was her love for charpais.

When we think about a charpai, the first thought for most of us is to picture commercials were old men would sit on them in villages because over the years they have stopped being a part of our homes.

We might find a few when we go to our ancestral homes or a rustic themed restaurant but these durable yet colourful pieces of furniture need to be celebrated way more than that. And The Skilled Samaritan Foundation is doing exactly that.

Not only are they helping rural artisans get recognition, but they are also bringing the art of making charpai to us! Sounds exciting right?

MensXP X iDiva experiences have a whole new session, Weave a Mini Charpai: With Skilled Artisans, where you can learn how to make a cute, colourful mini charpai without even stepping out.

The session will be run by an artisan who will guide us step-by-step and that¡¯s not it, the participants also get a charpai making kit delivered to them which definitely makes this a plus.

The experience which will happen on Oct 2nd is being held in collaboration with the Skilled Samaritan Foundation which is a not-for-profit organization based in one of the most crime inflicted regions in North India.

Since January 2019, the foundation has been channelling the weaving skills of the women in the area by bringing to the modern design sensibilities to create products that are unique and functional, using waste materials and natural fibre found in and around the region.

The session will an hour-long interactive and immersive experience where you not only get to learn a new, unique skill but also interact with the artisan which in itself is unlike anything else.
