Transparent Hybrid Work Policy Attracts Female Talent To Work? This CEO Thinks So
While offices worldwide are enforcing a 'Work from Office' mandate, marking a departure from the prevalent Work from Home scenario, certain CEOs hold a different perspective. They argue that hybrid policies, particularly for women, can be beneficial, and a transparent hybrid work policy might effectively attract and retain female talent in the workforce.
Possibility of hybrid work holds even more relevance in the Indian context since the last three decades have seen a fall in the female labour force participation rate.
Remote work key in attracting valuable talent, says CEO
Jenny Johnson, Franklin Templeton's CEO, contends that enabling remote work could be instrumental in attracting valuable female talent to the workforce, as per a CNBC report.
"I always say to people that the great opportunity for women is that we get to choose whether we want to work ¡ª whether we want to work at home and full time ¡ª because I have to be honest when I was on maternity leave where I was like, I need to get back to the office. You know, but it's that choice. That's so important. And that's what I think we're striving for is to have that choice,"Johnson shared with CNBC-TV18.
76% women feel empowered by flexible working arrangements
As per the "People at Work 2023" report by the ADP Research Institute, 76% of female respondents, including 78% of working mothers, expressed feeling empowered by flexible working arrangements.
The International Workplace Group (IWG) survey also revealed that nearly three-quarters of women (72%) would look for a new job if their employer took away the option to work hybrid.
To ensure the effectiveness of the hybrid model, employers are expected to adopt a people-centric approach, empowering employees to determine their preferred work locations and methods.
Particularly for women with family or childcare commitments, whether they are already working or aiming to re-enter the workforce, the advantages of hybrid working are significant and should not be overlooked.
