2,000 CoBRA Commandos From Four States Will Start Mission To Flush The Maoists Out Of Sukma
The Central Reserve Police Force CRPF will soon deploy a fresh squad of about 2000 commandos from its special guerrilla Commando Battalion for Resolute Action. At least 20 to 25 companies of the CoBRA personnel will be deployed to the Bastar considered the stronghold of the Maoist insurgents. The move comes after two major strikes by the Maoists in the region in March and April 12.
Stepping up its crackdown against the maoists, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will soon deploy a fresh squad of about 2,000 commandos from its special guerrilla Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) battalions in and around the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

At least 20 to 25 companies of the CoBRA personnel from their present locations in West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh will be deployed to the Bastar, considered the stronghold of the Maoist insurgents.
A CoBRA company has about 100 personnel each. At present, 44 CoBRA teams are deployed in the Bastar comprising the districts of Sukma, Dantewada and others.

"The CoBRA does operations based only on intelligence inputs and has been raised as a team of highly-trained commandos who neutralise the enemy and destroy their hideouts with minimal collateral damage. The CoBRA teams will specifically be used to increase the kill ratio of the forces and deliver heavy blow to the Maoists tactical counter offensive campaign," an officer told The Times of India.

The move comes after two major strikes by the Maoists in the region in March and April.
12 CRPF men were killed on an ambush by Maoists on March 11 in Sukma. In the latest attack, 25 CRPF men were killed in the Burkapal area of the district on April 24.

On Monday Union home minister, Rajnath Singh, while addressing the chief ministers of Naxal-affected states made the government's position clear.
The meeting was attended by chief ministers of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were represented by ministers and West Bengal and Telangana by their chief secretary and DGP.
Singh spelled out the mantra of 'SAMADHAN' ¡ª where 'S' stands for smart leadership, 'A' for aggressive strategy, 'M' for motivation and training, 'A' for actionable intelligence, 'D' for dashboard-based key performance indicators and key result areas, 'H' for harnessing technology, 'A' for action plan for each theatre and 'N' for no access to financing.

In the meeting Singh stressed on the use of drones, GPS and other technology to track the movement of the insurgents, especially in inaccessible remote areas.
