46-year-old Indian electrician wins ?2.27 crore in Dubai lottery

Winning a lottery is a dream come true, transforming lives overnight with the stroke of luck. Such was the fortune of an Indian electrician in Dubai, who recently found himself a millionaire. Nagendrum Borugadda, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, won an impressive AED 1 million, which is approximately Rs 2.27 crore.
Electrician strikes big in Dubai
Nagendrum, a 46-year-old electrician, won the substantial lottery prize this June. He has been residing in the UAE for several years, having moved there in 2017. The lucky winner is a father to two children, an 18-year-old daughter, and a 16-year-old son. When speaking to Khaleej Times, he described his feelings about the win, stating, "This win feels surreal." He also shared his motivations for moving to the UAE, saying, "I came to the UAE to build a better life for my family and provide good education to my children."

Another Indian wins Dubai lottery
In a similar stroke of luck, another Indian national won a substantial prize in the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium draw in May. Payal, a woman from Punjab, secured a $1 million prize with ticket number 3337, purchased online on May 3rd. She revealed that the funds to buy the winning ticket came from her husband, Harnek Singh, as a gift for their 16th wedding anniversary.

Payal is the 229th Indian to win a prize in the monthly draw. She has been a regular participant in the Dubai Duty-Free draws for the past 12 years, often alternating the names on the tickets between hers, her husband's, and their children's whenever they traveled. Speaking to Khaleej Times, she explained her choice of ticket, saying, "The money I used to buy the winning ticket came from my husband, who gifted me Dh1,000 on our 16th wedding anniversary on April 20. I decided to purchase a DDF ticket online with this money, specifically choosing one with the most number 3s in it."
