Baramulla Encounter: Three Terrorists Killed By Security Forces Near Uri

In a joint operation, the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district and killed three terrorists.
The operation was launched in the Hathlanga forward area in the Uri sector of the north Kashmir district, the police officials said.

Three terrorists tried to infiltrate into the Indian side and were engaged by alert troops, it said.
While the bodies of two terrorists have been retrieved, firing from a Pakistani post in the vicinity is interfering with the retrieval of the third terrorist's body, it added.
The identities and group affiliation of the slain terrorists are yet to be ascertained, police said.
Anantnag encounter enters day 4
The infiltration bid and the subsequent encounter come when an operation is underway in Anantnag district to neutralise terrorists who have taken positions in the forest area in a hilly terrain.
Security forces deployed drones and helicopters to surveil the hilly terrain and figure out the locations of the militants in the forests at Gadole in the Kokernag area of the south Kashmir district, officials said.
As the assault was resumed on Saturday morning ¨C the fourth day of the gunfight ¨C the security forces fired several mortar shells towards the forest, they said.
Using drones to hunt terrorists
Drone footage showed a militant running for cover after a cave-like hideout was hit by shells fired by security forces on Friday.
Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar late Friday night said the operation was launched based on specific input and claimed: "Two to three trapped terrorists will be neutralised."
ADGP Kumar also asked retired police and Army officials to avoid making unnecessary ¡°ambush hypothesis¡± following the ongoing gunfight.
Major Ashish Dhonchak, 19 Rashtriya Rifles Commanding Officer Col Manpreet Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, and a soldier who was initially reported to be missing were killed in the encounter with the militants on Wednesday.
