Fired For Harassing Women Employees, Two Office Boys Decide To Take Revenge, Burn Down BPO Office!

Two men arrested for setting BPO company ablaze after they were rapped for harassing female employees while working as office boys

Two youths, who were insulted by the proprietor of a BPO firm because they were harassing the company's female employees, exacted revenge by burning down the office furniture. Based on a police complaint lodged by the proprietor, the Bund Garden police have arrested the two, identified as Abdul Shaikh (20) and Nabi Nadaf (19).

According to the police, the duo used to work with the company, located at the Ashoka Pavilion commercial complex near Mahesh Lunch Home at Camp. "Shaikh was working as an office boy in my company, while his relative Nadaf worked at another office on the same floor. The two would sit here all day long. Of late, they had started teasing women employees of the office," said proprietor Sachin Kamble. On Saturday, the company had organised a picnic for the office staff. "Everybody had gathered near the office when we realised we didn't have any water on us. I went to the office to get a bottle. When I opened the main door, I saw the entire office furniture charred," said Kamble.

He was fired. He responded with fire

The employees initially thought it might have been a short circuit that took place, but when they saw the CCTV footage, they saw Shaikh roaming inside the office, pouring some chemical on the furniture before setting it on fire. They then joined the dots and realised it must have been because he was fired the previous day. "One of the women had complained to me about Shaikh on Friday. I warned him, but he started arguing. We even had a scuffle after that, but he left the building. It seems he returned at night through the back gate after all the offices were closed," Kamble added.

The police have obtained CCTV footage incriminating Shaikh. He also set a CCTV camera on fire, but there was another camera which captured his movements. Shaikh spent nearly half an hour in the office. Based on this complaint, the Bund Garden police arrested the duo on Saturday night. "We will send a sample of the chemical used to the forensic lab to find out more. The duo has been produced in court and sent to police custody till December 23," said Satish Pawar of the Bund Garden police, who is investigating the case.
