Quick Move: Hyderabad Doctors Take Metro While Transporting A Live Heart For Transplant Surgery
The humanitarian mission was taken up by the L&TMRHL authorities and security officials at a time when as many as 20,000 cricket lovers for the T20 match at Uppal were about to board metro trains on their return journey.
A team of doctors from Hyderabad's Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills transported a live heart to Nagole to save a life. But, what makes this exceptional is that they took the metro to do it.
Hyderabad metro rail (L&TMRHL) helped in the transportation of the live heart in a special train that covered 21 km in just 25 minutes. The metro authorities activated a green corridor from Nagole metro station to Jubilee Hills Check Post metro station to ensure free and fast movement of the vital organ.

What is a 'Green Corridor'?
Green corridors have been created for the transportation of organs through roads in the past.
A 'green corridor' is a special route that is managed in a way that all the traffic signals that come in the route of the hospital where an organ is harvested and the hospital where it is to be transplanted, are green and controlled manually.
The first green corridor in India was created by Chennai Traffic Police in September 2008, that organ saved a nine-year-old girl whose life depended on the transplant.
