NDA Might Have Done Well In Bihar But It Is NOTA That Has Grabbed All The Eyeballs
Voters in Bihar gave 817 lakh votes to NOTA which is the highest in the country. NOTA was the deciding factor in some of the closely contested seats in assembly election in Madhya Pradesh held last year.
Despite NDA alliance between BJP, JDU, LJP and others winning majority of the seats, a whopping number of people have preferred NOTA over any candidates fielded by any of the named parties. The voters in Bihar gave 8.17 lakh votes to NOTA which is the highest in the country and according to the Election Commission websites, the share of NOTA votes in total percentage of votes polled in Bihar is two percent.
The number of NOTA votes stood more than winning marjins of the many candidates as Gopalganj constituency in Bihar recorded a total of 51, 660 voters opted for NOTA which is 5.04 percent of the total votes polled and it¡¯s highest in the country.
Bihar was followed by Daman and Diu (1.7 percent), Andhra Pradesh (1.49 percent) and Chhattisgarh (1.44 percent) followed in the list with 1.7 percent, 1.49 percent and 1.44 percent votes, respectively where people opted for NOTA.

Gopalganj constituency was followed by West Champaran with 45,606 voters opting for NOTA. According to the Hindustan Times, AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies¡¯ former director, DM Diwakar said that more and more people opting for NOTA is a sign that the voters aren¡¯t finding candidates worth voting for.
¡°It is a kind of warning from the electorate to the political parties to field better candidates. Finding their options limited, they go for NOTA.¡±
