No Work, No Money During Lockdown, Bihar's Mountain Man Dashrath Manjhi's Family Battles Hunger
Dashrath Manjhi popularly known as the mountain man of India set an example for the whole humanity. He carved a path between Atri and Wazirgang through a 360 ft long 30 ft wide and 25 ft high hillock using only a hammer and chisel. His family is forced to sleep empty stomach during the ongoing coronavirus crisis and lack of work during the pandemic.
He did what no one else could do. He also has a hit movie made on his life. Some hospitals and roads are named after him. But his family is fighting a battle against hunger.

While Manjhi's family has received help from the government earlier, they are facing acute poverty, especially during the lockdown, which has pushed millions out of jobs with few means of sustaining the family.
His family is forced to sleep empty stomach during the ongoing coronavirus crisis and lack of work during the pandemic.
According to the reports, Manjhi¡¯s granddaughter has been sick and he has taken a loan for her treatment.
However, they do not have enough money to get a proper treatment for their daughter.
Manjhi passed away in 2007 due to cancer at All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He is an inspiration to many. He carved a path between Atri and Wazirgang through a 360 ft long, 30 ft wide and 25 ft high hillock, using only a hammer and chisel.
It took him 22 years from 1960 to 1982, shortening the travel distance between the Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya town from 55km to 15km.
It was in 2017, then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, sanctioned Rs 300 crore in 2017 Budget for laying of a railway line between Wazirganj and Natesar in Gaya district, Gehlaur.
