Triple Talaq has always been a contentious issue and its the women who always face its wrath. Every other day we come across incidents of triple talaq where the husband calls off the marriage by saying talaq, talaq, talaq. Eventually, it is the woman who suffers after being left by her husband. A law was passed in Parliament last month that made "Triple Talaq" a punishable offense.

The bill that sought to end the practice of Muslim men instantly divorcing their wives by uttering "talaq" thrice was cleared by both houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, of Parliament despite a slew of protests.

1. Woman given triple talaq for giving birth to girl child in UP's Ayodhya

Zafrin Anjum, a resident of Jana Bazar in Haider Ganj Tehsil in Ayodhya, was given instant triple talaq by her husband on August 18 after she gave birth to her second child, a girl. "Since the first month of our wedding my husband started torturing me for dowry. When I gave birth to a girl I was given triple talaq. I demand justice", she said as quoted to as saying by news agency ANI.

2. UP woman given triple talaq because she refused to take a chewing gum from husband

How much does a chewing gum cost? Marriage, apparently! That is what a woman in Uttar Pradesh found out in the hard way.

The incident took place inside a court premises in Lucknow. The woman, identified as Simmi was in the court for the hearing of a dowry case she had filed against her in-laws. While Simmi was talking to her lawyer, her husband Syed Rashid offered her chewing gum, which she rejected. Rashid, in a fit of rage allegedly gave her triple talaq by uttering ¡®talaq¡¯ three times in the presence of the lawyer.

3. Rajasthan man gives triple talaq within an hour of marriage as wife did not bring car as dowry

A man in Rajasthan pronounced triple talaq within an hour of his marriage after getting to know that his wife hasn't brought a car as dowry. According to reports, the accused, identified as Nadeem, has been arrested for his act. Police said that 27-year-old, a native of Dholpur district of Rajasthan, came along with a handful of baratis to marry Ruby 26 of Hariparvat.

4. Man gives triple talaq to wife in full public view when she asked for Rs 30 to buy vegetables

A 32-year-old man allegedly shouted ¡®triple talaq¡¯ after his wife asked for Rs 30 for buying vegetables. The incident happened in Raoji Market. Zainab (30) alleged that Sabir also hit her with a screwdriver during the incident.

5. She reached home 10 minutes late, husband gave her 'triple talaq' over phone in UP

A man from Uttar Pradesh's Etah district allegedly gave triple talaq to his wife over the phone after she failed to return home on time, as reported by news agency ANI. The victim said she had promised her husband that she would return within 30 minutes but after she failef to reach within the stipulated time, she faced instant divorce.

6. US-based surgeon gives triple talaq to wife in Bengaluru through WhatsApp

A Bengaluru-based woman has alleged that her husband gave her instant divorce through WhatsApp.

Reshma Azeez, a resident of Bengaluru, alleged that her husband Javeed Khan, a surgeon by profession of giving her triple talaq despite the Supreme Court declaring the practice as unconstitutional. Reshma and Javeed had been married for 15 years and the couple were living in UK before moving to the US.
