Criminal Politicians: UP BJP MLA, 5 Sons, Nephew Booked For Raping Woman On Pretext Of Marriage
BJP MLA Ravindra Nath Tripathi his five sons and his nephew have been booked in a case of gang rape. The 40-year-old woman had filed a complaint against Tripathis nephew for allegedly raping her after promising to marry her. She later added the leaders name to her complaint the police said. The MLA has claimed that this is a political conspiracy to defame him.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Ravindra Nath Tripathi, his five sons and his nephew have been booked in a case of gang rape.
The FIR against the MLA from eastern UP's Bhadohi and his family members was lodged at Bhadohi Kotwali police station on the basis of a complaint filed by the survivor on February 9.
The 40-year-old woman, had filed a complaint against Tripathi's nephew for allegedly raping her after promising to marry her. She later added the leader's name to her complaint, the police said.
"The complainant had said that the MLA's nephew Sandeep Tiwari had established sexual relations after the promise of marriage. She later levelled similar charges against the MLA and other people of the family. We had received a complaint, and on the basis of the complaint, we have registered a case against all those who have been named. A team has been constituted to investigate the case,¡± Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Badan Singh told NDTV.
The woman had alleged that the MLA's nephew met her on a train and that he sexually exploited her for six years. She said when she asked him to marry, she was harrassed.

"According to the woman, before the UP Assembly election in 2017, she was confined to a hotel for 30 days during which the MLA and other men- Chandrabhushan Tripathi, Deepak Tiwari, Nitish Tiwari and Prakash Tiwari- allegedly raped her," says the NDTV report.

However, the MLA has claimed that this is a political conspiracy to defame him. He said he and his family are ready to be hanged if any of the allegations are proved to be true.
Earlier too, there have been cases of rapes against BJP MLAs.
In December last year, expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been sentenced to jail for "remainder of his natural biological life" for raping a woman in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, in 2017.
"This court does not find any mitigating circumstance. Sengar was a public servant and betrayed people's faith," District Judge Dharmesh Sharma said, turning down the plea for lenient approach in sentencing him. The conduct of 53-year-old Sengar was to intimidate the rape survivor, it said.
"The convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar is hereby sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of his natural biological life in terms of Section 376 (2) Indian Penal Code," the court said.
