In a display of sheer warm-heartedness, a 73-year-old man was recently spotted rescuing stranded puppies at the flooded Sree Mahadeva Temple in Aluva, Kerala.
The elderly man, amid the backdrop of heavy rains and waterlogged streets, walked out in the open to help the animals in need with a sense of care and concern for their safety.
Madhu's heroic act highlighted on X
After carefully picking up the puppies from the temple premises, he carried them across the flooded pathway with his bare hands, making sure they reached a safer location.
The touching incident, where Madhu was seen holding 2-3 puppies close to him to facilitate their escape from the rising water, was captured on video by photojournalist Sanesh. Sanesh reported the event on X, sharing a heartwarming video that showed Madhu's compassionate act of helping the puppies cross the flooded area and find a secure resting spot.
The video put a spotlight on Madhu, who can be seen donning a dhoti and his head covered with a cloth. In this humble getup, he further lifts the stranded puppies from the Shiva temple to provide them with better shelter.

Rain havoc in Kerala
Meanwhile, incessant rainfall in regions of Kerala, especially in central and northern areas, has led to severe flooding, marked by the overflowing of the Periyar River.
The much-visited Sree Mahadeva Temple in Aluva was among the affected areas, with the temple premises submerged in water due to the continuous downpour. Visuals from the scene showed flooded streets and the temple immersed in water.

As per a report by PTI, Kerala is experiencing extreme weather conditions, as heavy rains have brought along destruction and damage. The report also mentioned that the Aluva temple was inundated after the Periyar River overflowed owing to heavy rains in Kochi. Additionally, the agency noted instances of trees being uprooted and minor landslides in specific areas of the state.

To manage the excess water, the gates of Malankara and Kallarkutty dams were raised, prompting authorities to urge residents living near the shores of the Periyar, Muthirappuzha, Thodupuzha, and Muvattupuzha rivers to remain vigilant.
