Sarfaraz Khan's Father Wins Hearts With His Heartfelt Remarks On His Son's Debut: Here's What He Said
Before the match, Sarfaraz, alongside his father Naushad Khan and family, lived a dream moment as the 26-year-old received his debut cap from former leg-spinner Anil Kumble. Naushad hugged his son with tears in his eyes as he presented him with a cap and kissed the Indian badge on it.
In his first-ever international match, Sarfaraz Khan shone brightly, boosting India's position on the opening day of the 3rd Test against England in Rajkot on Thursday. Filling in for post-skipper Rohit Sharma's departure after an impactful knock of 131, Sarfaraz quickly scored a vital 62 runs from 66 balls.
Owing to the significant efforts of Rohit Sharma, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ravindra Jadeja, with Jadeja remaining unbeaten at 110 off 112 balls, India concluded the first day of the third Test against England with a score of 326 for five at the Niranjan Shah Stadium.
With Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul all missing out, Sarfaraz was placed with Rajat Patidar and fellow debutant Dhruv Jurel in the middle order. Sarfaraz's innings ended due to a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja, leading to a run-out.

The son's countless impressive batting performances finally realised his father's long-nurtured dream. Sarfaraz wiped tears from his father's cheek and embraced him tightly. He controlled his emotions, knowing his journey had just begun.
What Sarfaraz Khan's father said on his son's debut
When Sarfaraz's father, Naushad Khan, was asked about this in an on-air conversation with Aakash Chopra, he replied poetically, saying that while the night requires time to pass, the sun doesn't rise at my will.
In the past few years, there had been ongoing discussions about Sarfaraz Khan's consistent inclusion in the Indian cricket team. However, he couldn't become a part of Team India despite that.
Sweet Redemption for Sarfaraz Khan
After scoring centuries in three outstanding Ranji Trophy seasons and challenging Don Bradman's first-class average briefly, Sarfaraz swashbuckled 150+ against the touring England Lions side while playing for India A.
Although he was not named in India's squad for last year's home series against Australia, he was a valuable middle-order batter. The ignorance continued even when the initial team for the first two Tests against England were announced.
Despite Virat Kohli withdrawing, Sarfaraz was still not considered, and Rajat Patidar was given the nod as a replacement. After the first Test, KL Rahul got injured, and the 26-year-old was called up as his replacement.
