Did You Know Wriddhiman Saha Used To Coach Rishabh Pant In West Indies Despite Losing His Test Spot To Him?
This is great on his part.
Cricketers fighting for a place in the side is nothing new. But there are those who do not shy away from lending a helping hand to a teammate even if it means more time in the reserves. Waqar Younis tutored Shoaib Akhtar and it was the latter that replaced him in the Pakistan side. Well, we have a similar situation in India now.
Wriddhiman Saha is right now keeping for us in the Test series vs South Africa. But not too long ago, he was in the reserves and Rishabh Pant was donning the gloves. We don't have to go too far back. Remember the tour to West Indies? Yes Saha was helping Pant out on his keeping skills even though it was Pant who had replaced him in the side.

This revelation was made by Rohit Sharma after we won the first Test in Vizag vs South Africa.
¡°We have seen Saha grow as a keeper and he's continued getting better day by day. He plays a big part in our line up for sure. He missed out because of his unfortunate injury,¡± he said while speaking to the media.
¡°When he was not playing in the West Indies, we saw Saha and Pant regularly talking about how he Pant needs to improve," he added.

"Every session he used to keep wickets and come back, Saha was the first one to go to him and talk about his keeping. They have a great understanding between them and I hope that continues for a long time,¡± he went on to say.
Saha was thinking for the team. Because he is not getting younger and if Pant can cement his place the keeping is in safe hands. Right now Saha is playing while Pant is warming the bench, but the tied can turn easily.
