IND vs AUS: Josh Hazlewood to miss Adelaide Test after troubling India in 1st clash 每 What we know

Amid all this, one of the few bowlers who troubled India in the Perth Test of the Border每Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 was Josh Hazlewood, and his injury, which has now ruled him out of the second Test, is a huge setback for Australia. The Aussie pacer will miss the second Test 〞 a pink-ball, day-night fixture 〞 against India in Adelaide from December 6, due to a "low-grade left side injury," Cricket Australia confirmed.

This will be the first time Hazlewood would be absent from a home Test against India. Australia will be without one of the four stalwarts 〞 Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon 〞 for the first time since the Sydney Test of 2015.

Josh Hazlewood against India:

The pacer not playing will be a significant loss for the hosts, who are trailing 0-1 in the five-match Test series. The pacer delivered a devastating spell the last time India played in Adelaide in December 2021, during a pink-ball match. During India's dismal collapse to 36 for 9, Hazlewood claimed remarkable figures of 5 for 8 from 5 overs, including three maidens.

Even in the Perth Test, he had picked up 4 for 29 in the first innings, where India was dismissed for 150. In the second innings as well, he conceded just 28 runs from 21 overs while the Men in Blue piled on the runs.

Two players added to Australian squad:

In place of Josh Hazlewood, the Aussies have added two uncapped pacers Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett. However, the hosts are likely to field Scott Boland, who was already part of the original squad. Boland will be in action during the two-day warm-up game for the Prime Minister's XI, starting on November 30. His had played his last Test in the 2023 Ashes Test in Leeds.

As for the two uncapped pacers, they were part of Test squads but did not get a chance to play. Doggett was part during the 2018 series against Pakistan in the UAE, while Abbott, on the other hand, was part of the 2020-21 home series against India and was also a reserve in last year's Ashes squad.
