PV Sindhu Scripts History, Becomes First Indian Woman To Win Olympic Silver Medal
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu has scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to bag a silver medal at the Olympics. The 21-year-old lost to World No 1 Carolina Marin 21-19 12-21 21-15 in the summit clash of the women's singles competition at the Rio Games.

PV Sindhu had become the first Indian to reach the final of a badminton event at the Olympics by beating Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the semis.
Sindhu, at 21, has also become the youngest Indian individual to win a medal at Olympics
With 1.3 billion Indians cheering for her, Sindhu displayed great composure to match up to the Spaniard. Sindhu had beaten the top Asian players on way to the final, including World No 2 Yihan Wang and World No 6 Okuhara.

The pressure of the high-octane clash was so great that each and every point was cheered by the players themselves, including the spectators at the venue and millions watching on television. Marin was loud and at times getting under the skin of her Indian opponent and Sindhu supporters. That strategy from her, eventually worked.

Sindhu won a 49-shot long rally in the first game, which she eventually won 21-19 after once trailing 6-11.
Marin but came back in the second game, taking it convincingly 21-12.

In the final game, Sindhu was lagging behind 1-5 and then after some superb net work and strong rallies, she came back to make it 10-11 at the game break.
Marin, however, kept calm and played on the unforced errors committed by Sindhu in the final game, which she won 21-15.

No matter the result, with Sindhu bringing home a silver medal, she has still made her country proud.
