Apple Could Soon Show You More Ads On The iPhone
Apple has internally tested search ads in Maps that could display recommendations when you search for restaurants, stores etc.
We could soon see more ads surfacing on iOS -- especially on the preinstalled apps on the iPhone such as Maps, Books and Podcasts.
This is according to a report by Bloomberg¡¯s Mark Gurman, which revealed that Apple has internally tested search ads in Maps that could display recommendations when you search for restaurants, stores etc.
Apple has already been displaying ads on the App Store, where developers can promote their ads based on keywords searched by users while searching for an app. In a similar way, Gurman says, Apple could show ads on Maps, showing businesses that pay the top dollar to appear on top of search results after looking for specific search terms.
According to Gurman, Apple could bring ads to its Podcasts as well as the Books app. In case you didn¡¯t know, currently, both the apps remain ad-free. Apple also wishes to extend the displaying of ads in the app store in other parts such as the Today tab as well as app download pages.
As per 9to5Google, ads on the today page could be displayed in larger cards with ¡®ad¡¯ written below the app¡¯s name. On the other hand, ads on the individual app pages will be visible in ¡®You Might Also Like¡¯ section highlighted in blue.
Gurman also highlights potential in putting ads on AppleTV+, with the option of creating a lower-priced ad-loaded tier, similar to what Netflix is working on currently.
People on Twitter aren¡¯t very pleased with this idea.
So Apple threw out all ad frameworks on their devices so Apple could roll out their own Ad framework and we're all just going to watch them do it

While many drew parallels on how something like this wouldn¡¯t have come into existence had Steve Jobs still been alive.
God damnit, Tim Cook. If Steve Jobs was still alive we¡¯d probably not have ads on our iPhones. Jobs innovated with new products, Cook adds add onto our iPhones and Apple TV+. Cook is going to turn Apple into a stagnant Microsoft 2 which Jobs was afraid of.

And also this is not what steve jobs would've wanted as his point on ads was to make them not too noticeable in our daily lives
And i get that it is and there are good and bad things about them but it's not bc now Apple decides to implement more that it's fine
While many were straight up not okay with the idea.
I get that. But ads on service I pay extra for is not acceptable. Like News+.

Apple is already showing me ads in app stores that doesn¡¯t interest me. I never went to App Store to discover something new, always seen same app that paid apple to be shown. Only loser here is companies that paid for the ads. Map isn¡¯t going to make any difference

That is so ironic

Apple has become that company
They will befall the same fate, if they let that happen, and sadly, it seems, if they choose to do these ads and other things they¡¯re doing lately that¡¯s unusual, Android may finally take over. It¡¯s anyone¡¯s game at that point
