And now, it has saved the life of another individual in the US by helping her detect a rare kind of tumour.
How did Apple Watch detect it?
Reported first by 9to5Mac, Kim Durkee saw atrial fibrillation warnings on her Apple Watch for two nights in a row, in the month of May. Kim at the time thought that the watch was not giving accurate readings.
However, soon she got another warning on the third night.This time she was not so comforted as the numbers went a little too high than normal.
That¡¯s when Durkee decided to visit the emergency room. She said, ¡°Then I said, you know what, go to the emergency room if they tell you it is nothing to worry about, then toss the watch.¡±
Diagnosis revealed that this was indeed atrial fibrillation and what caused it was an unknown, aggressive tumour.

The report revealed that she had myxoma, a rare, fast-growing tumour that was choking off her heart¡¯s blood supply, which if left unattended, could have caused a stroke.
Since the Apple Watch detected the early warnings, doctors were able to get to her in time and remove the tumour post a five-hour open-heart surgery. The tumour was four-centimetre long was could have ¡®almost certainly¡¯ killed her, had it not been found.
