Too Soon? BSNL Will Roll Out 4G Services Across India Before September 2022
BSNL is finally ready, folks! GOI's operator is set to roll out 4G services pan-India before September 2022, when others are likely to launch 5G
Look at them catching up! India's BSNL is HOPING to roll out its 4G services across India before September 2022. The question is, who's going to tell them?
While Airtel, Vi, and Jio are looking at laying the groundwork for mainstreaming 5G access in India, country's beloved BSNL appears to have been stuck in a long slumber.

Perhaps something good would come out of this? Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is owned and operated by the Government of India. In October, India's Department of Telecom secretary made the pilot call to test out locally developed 4G technology across the BSNL network.
In a Tweet, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said - "Made first call over Indian 4G network of BSNL (Designed and Made in India). PM @narendramodi Ji's vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat taking shape."

While Modi's vision may be (finally) taking shape, it's not the vision any tech enthusiast would want for India - for reasons mentioned above. Even though locally developed tech is always a great feat, it shouldn't be paced so astronomically slow, especially if we want to compete with tech biggies like China.
Let's not forget, this is the same guy who said India's locally made 6G tech would be final before 2024... with no signs of even 5G in 2021.
Meanwhile, 5G!
Airtel, Jio, and Vi have successfully carried out 5G trials in India's metropolitan cities. 4G services were first offered to Indian users back in 2016 by these operators, who have now moved on to the improved VoLTE connectivity which also allows HD voice calls over some carriers.

BSNL may offer VoLTE in five-six more years (if we're lucky) based on the current trajectory. The question is - is anybody going to wait for them? We certainly aren't.
