CoWin App COVID Vaccination: App Crash Prevents People From Booking Vaccine
While everyone was really excited about getting their jab of the COVID-19 vaccine that could protect them against the novel coronavirus, this excitement turned into utter disappointment while registering the names for the vaccination, with the Co-Win app suffering server issues.
Today is the day most of us have been waiting for since Covid-19 pandemic began. India has commenced the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccine drive with CoWin app, where people over the age of 60 and individuals with co-morbidities over the age of 45 are eligible to get vaccinated.
While everyone was really excited about getting their jab of the COVID-19 vaccine that could protect them against the novel coronavirus, this excitement turned into utter disappointment while registering the names for the vaccination, with the CoWin app suffering server issues.
How to register for CoWin App?
People eligible to receive the vaccine were asked to register themselves on the CoWin app. They could either do this on their smartphones (through the CoWin app from Google Play Store) or their PC via a browser.
All they need to do is enter their mobile number in CoWin app, register using OTP, and as soon as they receive the OTP, enter the necessary details and book slots for the nearest vaccination centre.
CoWin App OTP issue
While many manage to download the CoWin app and enter the mobile number to commence registration, when the app tries to verify people¡¯s numbers using OTP, the app simply conks-off with the device not receiving an OTP to complete the registration process.
This CoWin app issue was highlighted by several users on the microblogging platform, and they are clearly disappointed.
However, this wasn¡¯t the only issue that they faced. Some individuals who tried registering on the browser were lucky enough to get past the OTP phase however, they got stuck at the next step when they had to select slots in their particular region, with the site crashing for several other users.
Several users complained that no slots were available on CoWin app -- definitely not a good sign.
It seems like the CoWin App servers have been overwhelmed by the response, more so after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi got a jab of COVID-19 vaccine this morning, encouraging others to join the drive. Hopefully, these glitches will eventually be fixed, allowing people to get vaccinated.
