Elon Musk Just Deleted The Facebook Pages Of His Companies SpaceX And Tesla On A Twitter Dare!
Honestly, this shouldn't surprise you one bit.
It¡¯s Friday night again, and you know what that means. Yep, it¡¯s time for Elon Musk to be usual weird self again.
In a tweetstorm surrounding the #DeleteFacebook movement, Musk has made one of his usual impetuous moves and deleted the Facebook pages for both Tesla and SpaceX. You know, the official ones with close to 3 million followers each.
Musk was responding to a number of tweets when he decided to crack wise on a post by Signal founder and co-founder of WhatsApp Brian Acton.
What¡¯s Facebook?

Afterward, one of Musk¡¯s followers suggested Musk would delete SpaceX¡¯s Facebook page if he was really ¡°the man¡±. Of course, you know the SpaceX founder can¡¯t resist a cheeky challenge.
I didn¡¯t realize there was one. Will do.

Another suggested Tesla should go too, to which Musk agreed, saying it was too boring to keep up anyway.
Definitely. Looks lame anyway.

Of course, everyone thought it was all fun and games. Until it wasn¡¯t anymore.

Now, with the frenzied mob having slaked their thirst for blood, they clamoured for more. Next up on the hit list was SpaceX¡¯s Instagram. Thankfully, Musk kept a head on his shoulders and didn¡¯t put his social media manager completely out of a job.
Instagram¡¯s probably ok imo, so long as it stays fairly independent. I don¡¯t use FB & never have, so don¡¯t think I¡¯m some kind of martyr or my companies are taking a huge blow. Also, we don¡¯t advertise or pay for endorsements, so ¡ don¡¯t care.

Musk¡¯s move rounds up an absolutely terrible week for Facebook, what with the Cambridge Analytica scandal, #DeleteFacebook, the subsequent investigations and lawsuits. It¡¯s...really not been Zuckerberg¡¯s week.

On a side note, why don¡¯t people take Elon Musk seriously? The man makes some insane promises, but he always delivers when it¡¯s in his power. Remember the freaking flamethrower?
Now all that remains to be seen is if the deactivated Facebook pages remain offline or he reinstates them after a while. Frankly, we¡¯re hoping he has the cojones to do the former.
