No Time To Die, the next James Bond movie, was supposed to hit the theatres in April but citing the Coronavirus scare, has now been delayed to November. Nevertheless, we will continue to see snippets of the movie in one form or the other. And in one of these snippets, HMD Global will showcase the first ever 5G smartphone by Nokia.
An upcoming advert featuring 00 agent Nomi (played by Lashana Lynch) scheduled for March 8 will be displaying the first 5G Nokia phone. Nomi will be seen finishing a mission using the device which HMD Global plans to launch on March 19th. So as far as advertising for a product goes, it doesn't really get any bigger than this.
Note that the Nokia 5G device will not be the only one to feature in the upcoming James Bond flick. HMD Global has confirmed that the movie will feature two more Nokia devices namely - Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 3310. It is, however, not known yet if Bond will be carrying any of these himself.
It won¡¯t be a surprise if he does. Nokia phones have been associated with the Bond franchise in the past. If you recall, a Nokia 8800 accompanied Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006) as Craig made his debut as the secret agent in the franchise for the first time. With No Time To Die being his final stint with the series, it will only be a fitting ending with the throwback to the Nokia devices.
James Bond movies are renowned for product placements over the past decades. In addition to the fact that most of these products are the most premium ones in their respective categories, the way they are portrayed in James Bond movies has an immense impact on the audience. A result of this is seen in the partnership of the series with Aston Martin cars. Respecting the same, No Time To Die will feature a 55-year old Aston Martin DB5 with machine guns and a flamethrower.
