This Guy Found A Genius Trick To Get People To Download Signal Through A WhatsApp Message
Signal is one of the two popular WhatsApp alternatives that are seeing a considerable rise in the number of users -- the other one in the duo being Telegram.
Ever since WhatsApp updated its terms and privacy policy, a large number of people have decided to switch to Signal (among other secure messaging platforms) which made the texting app no 1 on two most popular app stores -- Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Many people recommended switching to Signal, including the world¡¯s richest person, Elon Musk. However, it looks like there were some other forces at play too, to lure people into abandoning WhatsApp and switching to Signal -- fake WhatsApp forwards.
I stumbled upon one forward on Reddit (by Reddit user i_Killed_Reddit) where he has asked people to share a fake (albeit funny) WhatsApp message in their friends and family group, targeting Unkills (Uncles), to lure them into switching to Signal. The message is being sent to users in India in both English and Hindi.
We¡¯ve seen several kinds of fake WhatsApp forwards over the years, with the most embarrassing ones during the lockdown (remember the thali banging one that said it¡¯ll help cure COVID-19) however, this time the agenda is rather positive -- to help people pick a better platform to help safeguard their data.
Signal is one of the two popular WhatsApp alternatives that are seeing a considerable rise in the number of users -- the other one in the duo being Telegram.
Created by co-founder of WhatsApp, Brian Action, what sets Signal to be a better option for most users is that the company is an independent 501 (c) (3) nonprofit -- and the company is run on donations and grants from people (Elon Musk is one of the donors for the app) and the brand promises no advertisements, no trackers.
As of now, the app has been installed over 10 million times on Google Play Store alone. Telegram, on the other hand, has claimed the second spot in the ¡®Free Apps¡¯ category, whereas, on the Play Store, the app is in top 10, at the eight positions.
