SpaceX seems all set to roll out its much anticipated internet service by the name of ¡®Starlink¡¯.
Made possible by a record number of satellites closely knit together in low-earth orbit, the internet service has already reached several beta users on Earth.
Since its availability to the beta users, Starlink has been gaining massive popularity for its ultra-fast internet speeds. While this was to be expected, as promised by the company since its inception, the launch now has everyone gushing to get a piece of it.
Thankfully for all those waiting to try out Starlink, the company has promised to roll out thousands of more Starlink beta participation. The announcement comes through the Twitter account of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
In a recent tweet, Musk mentioned - ¡°Several thousand more Starlink beta participation invitations going out this week." Excited by the announcement, several Twitter users started asking Musk about the availability of the service in their respective regions. It seems it will be coming to India as well, and if Musk is to be believed, by the middle of next year.
Responding to Musk¡¯s tweet, Twitter user Hamzah Khan asked the tech-billionaire about the launch of the Starlink service in India. To this, Elon Musk responded by saying that it will be launched in the country as soon as it gets the regulatory approval. ¡°Hopefully, around middle of next year,¡± he commented.
The next era of Internet Connectivity
Starlink is being thought of by many as the next iteration of global internet coverage. A network of thousands of satellites in the low-Earth orbit will enable an internet with ¡°performance that far surpasses that of traditional satellite internet,¡± says the company on its website.
Another big plus for Starlink is its independence from the ground infrastructure limitations. With these advantages, SpaceX is working towards enabling Starlink across locations where access has been ¡°unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable.¡±
Starlink is targeting to roll out its service in the Northern U.S. and Canada in 2020. It will then rapidly expand to near global coverage of the populated world by 2021. Hence, we can expect to see a glimpse of the service in India by next year.
