Inspired By NASA, BeeHex Can 3D Print A Pizza For You In Just Five Minutes Flat
BeeHex has developed a 3D printer which can squeeze out a pizza -- layer by layer -- made of fresh dough, mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato paste within as little as five minutes. Yes, an edible 3D printed pizza from a robot chef 3D printer!
From the quest to provide fresh nourishment to astronauts who¡¯ll undertake the Mars journey in the future, NASA¡¯s project has led BeeHex to approach a novel way of making pizza unlike anything you¡¯ve seen before.

BeeHex designs and ¡°builds commercial 3D food printers and fresh-food producing robots¡± - which are controlled by proprietary BeeHex software and easy-to-use smartphone app. BeeHex¡¯s Chef3D printers are inspired from a NASA project, but they aren¡¯t just meant for use by space-faring astronauts, people on earth have a right to enjoy their comfy cooking experiments.
Their Chef3D printer, showcased in the video above, the process of assembling the pizza of your choice starts with a smartphone app, where you have to select the size, shape and ingredients (dough, sauce, cheese quantities) of the pizza. The 3D printer goes to work and prints the pizza out in about just one minute, after which the machine notifies you that it¡¯s time for you to put it in the oven for an additional four or five minutes.
By uploading an image of the desired shape you want the pizza to be printed in, BeeHex¡¯s Chef3D printer can loosely mimic its edges and counters -- for e.g., take a look at the 3D printed pizza which is in the shape of the map of the US.
All we can say after looking at this is a) the future of NASA¡¯s Mars mission is delicious, at the very least, and b) Humans (especially kids) on earth can knock themselves out on 3D printed pizzas, too! Win win win!!
