Air India Express¡¯ inaugural Surat-Bangkok flight saw brisk alcohol sales, with some passengers claiming stock ran out. Airline officials denied this, stating there was ample supply of spirits and food.
Air India Express' initial 4-hour trip from Surat, Gujarat, to Thailand's capital Bangkok saw strong sales of spirits onboard, with some customers alleging the stock had run out. On Friday, a Boeing 737-8 aeroplane carried 175 passengers and six crew members. The airliner has a passenger capacity of 176.
Gujaratis finished ?1.8 lakh worth of alcohol on a 4-hour flight
The completely filled flight took traction on social media when passengers shared videos of their onboard experiences. Passengers spent around ?1.8 lakhs on luxury alcoholic beverages like Chivas Regal, Bacardi, and lager. The team had to announce that they had run out of alcohol before reaching Bangkok due to excessive consumption.
The journey was also renowned for its culinary components, with passengers bringing traditional Gujarati treats like as thepla and khaman, as well as pizza. These personal food items supplemented the onboard beverages, which were reportedly devoured during the four-hour ride. However, several social media users have questioned the early stories' details. Several commenters pointed out anomalies, particularly with the reported passenger total of 300.

However, there was no official statement from Tata Group's Air India Express. According to regulations, a passenger is not provided more than 100 ml of spirits on a flight.
The airline provides five varieties of spirits onboard. Chivas Regal costs ? 600 per 50 ml, whereas Red Label, Bacardi White Rum, and Beefeater Gin all cost ? 400. It also offers 330 ml Bira Lager for ?400. Passengers can either pre-order meals or buy it on the plane. Liquor drinking is illegal in Gujarat.
