Rare Albino Kangaroos Spotted In Australia
The troop was spotted in the Panorama Wildlife Sanctuary and Secret Gardens. The sanctuary is a private organisation on Australia's Mornington Peninsula. The official who spotted the unusual scene captured the group of kangaroos on the field.
Afterward, the photos soon took off on the viral trail once they were posted on the sanctuary¡¯s Facebook page. In a conversation with the Daily Mail, the sanctuary¡¯s owner, Annemaree Van Rooy, revealed that the private lands were home to nine albino kangaroos.
Rooy mentioned, "We rescued three albino kangaroos that were held in little, tiny cages, and now we have a mob of about nine." The owner also shared how the kangaroos are free to leave and come as they please inside the sanctuary: "They come and go as they please on the wildlife sanctuary, and they live just as they are supposed to out in the wild."
The Chances Of Producing An Albino Kangaroo Are Quite Low
Although albino animals do exist naturally, the chances of producing an albino kangaroo are one in every 50,000 to 100,000 animals, as per mammologist Mark Eldridge.
Folks online were in awe of the rare kangaroos. One user felt they were blessed, "I feel like kangaroos are the Marie Antoinettes of the animal world. Blessed beyond belief with an easy way to carry their children, and they don¡¯t even know what they have¡"
