Video Of Man Digging Out Live Alligator From Frozen Lake Goes Viral
Alligators are a pretty curious lot. They are cold-blooded creatures that rely on solar rays for thermoregulation which is the regulation of body temperature in an organism. So, what happens when the temperature goes down and sun rays don¡¯t amount to much heat?

Video Of Man Pulling Out Alligator From Frozen Lakes Goes Viral
They go into a dormant state. A new video of a man helping an alligator during freezing-cold temperatures has intrigued the fancy of many on the internet. In the video posted by Tansu Yegen on Twitter, the man shares how he noticed several heads popping out of a frozen lake.
This led to the man giving in to his curiosity and checking out what was going on. He later realised that the heads popping out of the lake were of alligators who had lowered their metabolism to survive the cold weather. In the video, the voice-overs identify the man as George Howard and share that he was not trying to free the creatures but rather just wanted to give them a little room to relax by thawing at the snow frozen around their bodies.
Howard is the park manager at The Swamp Park in southern North Carolina. He said in the clip while marvelling at the creatures, ¡°Just an absolute survival technique. I mean these guys are amazing survivors. This is one more example of that.¡± The poster also shared some information on alligators and wrote, ¡°Alligators survive in frozen swamps by sticking their noses through the ice to breathe. Reptiles shut down their metabolism, and they don't need to eat their heart rate slows down, their digestive system slows down, and they just sit and wait for the heat.¡±

Some were sceptical about the man pulling out the gator, "Ngl if I was an alligator chilling in my frozen lake and some researcher came along and dug me up for no reason I¡¯d be super pissed ¡ would turn my metabolism back on just to bite him."

A commenter got upset by the man pulling out the alligators, "So I¡¯m assuming this person is completely aware of this biological adaptation but still chose to interfere because¡¡.??"

A gentleman came along and chimed in, "Because this is a rescue and these gators are being rehabbed. Everyone is assuming he's harming them without having any clue themselves. I'm going to go with the gator rescue over random Twitter users on whether this is good to do for them."
