BLACKPINK fans criticize BTS' J-Hope for dancing to Doechii's song, sparks ARMY backlash
So far, since joining TikTok, J-Hope has posted a few videos, including one shared on February 3, in which he participated in a TikTok trend to American musician Doechii's 'Denial Is A River' song which has been going popular.
Over the years, fan wars have only intensified in the world of K-pop, and in the past few months, they seem to have escalated even further against the biggest group in the world, BTS. While the seven members have yet to reunite and are set to do so by June 2025, the hate toward them continues to grow!even for simple things like following a dance trend on social media.
On January 24, fans were thrilled to discover that BTS' J-Hope had opened a public TikTok account. He is one of two group members with an open TikTok account, the other being Jungkook. So far, J-Hope has posted a few videos, including one shared on February 3, in which he participated in a TikTok trend to American musician Doechii's Denial Is A River.
Why were BLACKPINK fans offended?
No real reason! The backlash stemmed from J-Hope using Doechii's song, with critics claiming the timing of his post was suspicious. On February 2, the Grammy Awards took place, honouring many artists for their contributions over the past year.
Doechii took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album!a significant and emotional milestone for the artist, who has been active since 2016. However, some critics attempted to stir controversy, suggesting that J-Hope posted the video for "clout" in response to her Grammy win.

Doechii is a BTS fan
ARMYs, tired of BLINKs instigating online fights, quickly came to J-Hope's defense, emphasizing that the video was just a fun, lighthearted moment. Some even pointed out that Doechii had previously given BTS a shoutout in one of her songs.
Meanwhile, others speculate that this could hint at a possible collaboration between J-Hope and Doechii in the future.
