The AI chatbot is currently down for users across the globe and the outrage has affected OpenAI's Sora and ChatGPT API services too. As per the website, the tracking tool of ChatGPT impacted around 22,000 users.
Causes behind the outrage
The company OpenAI has not disclosed any particular reasons behind the problem; however, the company disclosed that it is actively investigating the problem and is trying to fix it.
According to the latest update by the company, OpenAI has observed a partial recovery in some services, but they are working on a full resolution.

What problems did the users face?
ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that understands human-like text, is currently down, while during the outage, users reported and noted that they are unable to access ChatGPT's services on both the web and mobile platforms.
Some users also noticed that there were issues with applications that rely on OpenAI's API. Moreover, OpenAI has confirmed the outage via its status page. At 20:28 PST on February 5, 2025, was the first time the problem was reported. Later, the problems were followed by updates at 20:36 PST and 20:44 PST.
During this time, OpenAI mentioned that the company was investigating the matter. According to Downdetector, the outage began at 9:14 AM IST and continued for several hours.
