This Endangered Turtle Would Have Choked To Death If Rescuers Didn't Free It From Plastic Ring
Now a video of a plastic ring choking an endangered Hawksbill turtle is going viral on social media. It was shared by IFS Parveen Kaswan.
It has already been established by scientists that plastic that already exists in our eco system can take thousands of years to flush out. Even though many companies in various countries are doing their bit to replace plastic with more biodegradable materials, the production of plastic items does not seem to be on a significant decline. Plastic has been found at the deepest point in the ocean, apart from every other place.
One can clean the beaches but cannot get rid of the plastic choking aquatic life to death. Images of turtles, fish and seals choking on some form of plastic or another are common now.
A video of a plastic ring choking an endangered Hawksbill turtle is going viral on social media. The video was shared by IFS Parveen Kaswan, with the caption, ¡®This is how our plastic waste is killing wildlife. Here endangered Hawks Bill slowly strangling due to our waste. One such example!! (sic)¡¯.
He further mentioned that the time and location of the video are not known as it was sent to him by a friend.

In the video one can see the turtle being strangled by a plastic bottle ring, as rescuers attempt to free it. One woman can be seen patiently cutting the ring from around the turtle¡¯s neck and it seems to be really tight. The turtle patiently waits while rescuers try to help it. Finally the ring comes off, and one of the rescuers releases it into the sea.
The woman shows the plastic ring to the camera.
This is not the first such video - last year, images and videos of a seal's head being trapped in plastic Frisbee went viral. It shed light on how people littered the beach with plastic after they left, and the wildlife suffered.
Then there was also an underwater video of a fish trapped inside a plastic bag.

Plastic has not spared deep sea animals either. In the video one can see fish struggling inside a plastic bag and it probably would have suffocated to death soon, if it wasn¡¯t freed by the rescuer.
All these incidents show how human waste and plastic pollution is literally choking nature. If measures to curb such lifestyle are not taken soon, many endangered species will soon be extinct.
