Lahaul-Spiti Receive Fresh Snowfall, Authorities Forced To Shut Schools

Himachal Pradesh¡¯s Lahaul and Spiti are now covered under a blanket of snow. Locals woke up to the beautiful sight of the place draped in a fresh layer of snow. The regions are covered under thick ice due to the Western Disturbance over Afghanistan and adjoining areas.
The snowfall also affected road and air transport in the district. As the valley was experiencing snow, the plains were receiving rains. In the high altitude areas of the Chamoli districts, life has come to a standstill. As most areas received fresh snowfall, the state authorities were forced to shut down the schools.

Both government and private schools were shut due to the chilly winds and snow. What could be called a really beautiful sight, the trees and shrubs were frozen and sparkling in white colour after ice settled on the leaves.
Even the roofs of the houses were also covered with snow, allowing the locals to peep out and enjoy the mesmerising view outside.

According to ANI, the mercury in Lahaul-Spiti dropped to 4 degrees celsius, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD). The region may also receive rains and witness thunderstorms today.
A yellow weather warning was also issued last week for heavy rain and snowfall in eight districts - Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. The weather department has issued color-coded warnings to alert the public ahead of severe or hazardous weather, with ¡®yellow¡¯ indicating least danger.

Last year, Niagara Falls were simply majestic. Parts of the world-famous Falls had frozen over and it reminded us of the 2013 Disney movie Frozen. However, it did nothing to dampen the spirits of people who continued to pour in to watch the majestic Niagara Falls.
