Video: Someone Came Up With A Makeshift Locust-Scaring Machine & People Are Loving This Jugaad!
A video has surfaced online in which a farmer has created a jugaad to keep his farms safe from the swarms of locusts.
Several states in India have been attacked by swarms of locusts and crops have been threatened. Farmers across states like Rajastha, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are trying to come up with innovative as well as traditional ways to terminate the migratory pests.
A video has surfaced online in which a farmer has come up with a jugaad to keep his farms safe from the swarms of locusts. In the video which was originally shared on TikTok, one can see a type of 'airplane' mounted on a pole. It seems like it is placed in the centre of a field. The 'airplane' looks like it is made of fan blades, a plastic bottle, a can and a cardboard tail. It moves in a rotating motion on top of the pole and makes a loud noise which is meant to keep the locusts away from the field, hence saving the crops.
After going viral on TikTok, the video was then shared on Twitter by Uttar Pradesh police officer, Rahul Srivastav, who wrote, "#Locust is the mother of inventions!"

Soon after being shared on the video-creating app, the video has managed to gather 27 million views and Srivastav's tweet has almost 16K views in just a matter of hours.
Though we cannot vouch for the fact if this jugaad actually works and keeps swarms of locusts away from fields, another video was shared by Srivastav last week in which a vehicle was fitted with loudspeakers. Locally known as a ¡®DJ vehicle' which is used for playing music during wedding processions, the loud music was used to scare away the locusts.
Netizens were left quite impressed with the invention and appreciated the jugaad.

People have to fight and come up against the odds. Great initiative and well done. An eco-friendly concept of generating sound with zero use of technology. What a simple great idea ? Hats off to such great minds. Jai Hind
