The mastermind? Rahul Chaudhary, an English graduate from Meerut with a penchant for the high life¡ªliterally. Taking inspiration from binge-worthy crime dramas, Rahul turned his upscale flat into a sophisticated marijuana-growing operation, only to see his green empire topple when the police came knocking.

A routine police operation near Noida¡¯s P-3 roundabout quickly escalated into a major bust as officers from Beta-2 and Ecotech-1 police stations, along with an anti-narcotics team, zeroed in on Rahul. In his swank flat at Tower 5, Parsvnath Panorama, authorities uncovered a veritable weed wonderland. Over 80 cannabis plants and more than 2 kg of processed product were seized, including a batch of premium ¡®OG¡¯ cannabis¡ªall meticulously nurtured using advanced aeroponic techniques.

A full-fledged business

Rahul¡¯s operation was no amateur setup. He¡¯d spared no expense, investing heavily in technology to regulate temperature, lighting, and humidity, perfecting the conditions for cultivating high-quality cannabis without soil. According to DCP Saad Miya Khan, each plant costs between Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 to cultivate, with returns reaching Rs 60,000 per 30 grams. It was a clandestine green factory, crafted to supply high-grade weed with a price tag that catered to an exclusive clientele.

Ever cautious, Rahul had imported cannabis seeds through international websites and used encrypted messaging apps to communicate with buyers, ensuring his business stayed in the shadows. He even dabbled with the dark web to run his operations away from prying eyes. But in the end, his luxurious weed haven was no match for a thorough investigation, and now he¡¯s facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
