Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed: Brave 11-YO Girl Gouges Crocodile's Eyes To Save Her Friend

When a friend is there for you in your most troubled time, it is the mark of true friendship. And what situation is more troubling than a threat to life?

A schoolgirl in Zimbabwe reportedly saved her friend from becoming a meal of a large crocodile, by jumping on its back and gouging its eyes till it did not leave the former.

9-year-old Latoya Muwani was reportedly attacked by a crocodile while swimming in a stream, along with her friends in Sinderela Village, Zimbabwe. 11-year-old Rebecca Munkombwe, had reportedly just gotten out of the stream when she heard the screams for help coming from the water.

When the adrenaline rushed, she gave into the fight instinct and jumped into the water.

¡°We had just left the water when we heard Latoya who was left alone swimming near the neck-deep zone screaming that something was biting her hand,¡± Daily Mail quoted Rebecca as saying.

¡°Since I was the eldest among the other seven children, I felt the urge to save her. So, I jumped into the water and swam to where she was struggling to float. She was screaming in pain that something was biting and pulling her under,¡± she further said. She soon realised that a crocodile had grabbed her friend¡¯s hand.

She reportedly said, ¡°I jumped on top of the crocodile and started beating it with my bare hands before using my fingers to poke its eyes until it released her. Once she was free, I swam with her to the banks where the other children pulled her out of the water. The crocodile fortunately did not attack us after it let off Latoya.¡±

The 9-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital and she luckily escaped with minor injuries and is now recovering.

It takes real bravery and true commitment to friendship to put one¡¯s life in danger, Rebacca seem to possess both.
