A video is now going viral showing a man at Obolon station resolutely playing Ukraine's national anthem on a trumpet while people around him watch on.
The Ukrainians are defiant and Russia's military might has done little to deter their spirits, even as the enemy forces advance on the capital city of Kyiv.
As Russian forces make further inroads, many Ukrainian citizens have been hiding under the city¡¯s streets ¨C some in metro stations, and some in basements.
A video is now going viral showing a man at Obolon station resolutely playing Ukraine's national anthem on a trumpet while people around him watch on.
The platform might have been silent but the underground echo of his instrument was louder. The people around could be seen humming the national anthem, in a display of resilience against the Russian invasion.
The video was posted on Twitter by Journalist Kristina Berdynskykh, who works for Kyiv-based magazine Novoye Vremya. "Ukrainian national anthem in the metro station (bomb shelter) #Ukraine," the caption on the tweet reads.

The clip has been viewed over 6 lakh times.
In another tweet, Berdynskykh said that she was sleeping at the metro station for the fifth night in a row. She posted a selfie inside a train car, writing that she had scored a "VIP" seat tonight.
Kyiv authorities have been bringing trains into the station so that people could sleep in the cars rather than on the platform floor.
Ukrainians taking refuge in basements and metro stations are taking comfort in music, at a time of fear and conflict.
Another video going viral shows people singing along and waving their phone lights in the air while crowded into an underground shelter, as one woman plays the guitar.

Amid Russia's military aggression, the people of Ukraine have refused to bow down to intimidation - with civilians lining up at army recruitment camps to do their part for the country.
A popular Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk has also signed up to volunteer for the army against Russian forces.
In a video posted by the Ukrainian defence ministry, Khlyvnyuk, the lead singer of the rock group BoomBox, can be seen dressed in military gear and armed with a gun on the streets of Kyiv, as he sang a song to rally his fellow countrymen.
Khlyvnyuk has reportedly joined Ukraine's Territorial Defense Forces - the country's military reserve component - in order to defend the capital's streets against Russian attempts to capture the city.

¡°I¡¯ll take my kids to a safe house, to granny¡¯s. And then I¡¯ll return to follow the instructions of the government and if it¡¯s needed I¡¯ll take my gun and go fight for my country, Khlyvnyuk told Euronews last week.
¡°Musicians are peacemakers. But not it¡¯s not time for playing guitars. It¡¯s time to take the rifles," he added.
