Newly-elected MLA of the ruling Biju Janta Dal party allegedly forced a junior engineer to do sit-ups in front of hundreds of people as punishment for the poor state of roads in Odisha. A video of the same incident purportedly showing the MLA from Patnagarh Saroj Meher asking Jasbant Sabar to do 10 sit-up went viral. The society like India where the first thing that comes to mind when anybody thinks about the word politician is corruption.
The situation of traffic, roads, pollution is really bad in our country. Potholed roads are a common sight across India and especially during and after the rainy season. Every year crores of money is spent by highway authorities on making and repairing roads.
The Indian public has been brainwashed in believing potholes are a natural phenomenon and that is why there are few people who raise their voices about this. But like we said there are still a few who raise their voices. One such person is this newly-elected MLA of the ruling Biju Janta Dal party.
He allegedly forced a junior engineer to do sit-ups in front of hundreds of people as punishment for the poor state of roads in Odisha¡¯s Bolangir district.
A video of the same incident purportedly showing the MLA from Patnagarh, Saroj Meher, asking Jasbant Sabar, a junior engineer of the public works department, to do sit-ups and the video went viral on social media.

It was the first time the MLA went to Patnagarh two days ago when the locals of Belpada complained about the bad roads in the area and blamed the authorities for that. After he heard all the complaints, Meher summoned Sabar and asked him to do 10 sit-ups in front of everybody.
Sabar started doing the sit-ups but requested the MLA to forgive him. Meher told him that the locals would beat him up if he refuses to follow through. The junior engineer then continued as the people kept watching him.
¡°I am the MLA and this is my order. I am empowering the people to thrash you,¡± the MLA is heard saying in the video.
Meher is also heard saying that he is a taxpayer too and the poor quality of work is causing a huge loss to him too.
The society like India where the first thing that comes to mind when anybody thinks about the word politician is corruption, but instances like this make us believe in our lawmakers again. We hope that it is not because he's just started his career and he remains dedicated to his work till the end.
People like him really make the world a better place to live in!
