People Are Praising Disney Pixar's New Movie 'Turning Red' For Introducing Turbaned Sikh Character
People are praising Disney Pixar and the director for not only introducing its first turbaned Sikh character but also because they are excited about the cultural diversity.
Disney Pixar in association with Director Domee Shi is back with a new animated movie trailer by the name of Turning Red.
Now the story of this movie is about a 13-year-old girl named Mei Mei who turns into a red giant panda whenever she is stressed out. Interestingly, we all turn red with anger and the director has used that emotion wittily. She has shown how growing up isn¡¯t easy and how teenagers deal with their outbursts of emotions.
The first trailer for Pixar¡¯s ¡®TURNING RED¡¯ has been released.

So, even though the story of the movie seems interesting, there was an additional interesting aspect in the trailer itself that left Sikhs across the globe feeling extremely happy.
Why, you ask? Because the trailer introduced a Sikh character who is seen playing the role of a school security guard where Mei Mei studies. In this particular scene, he is seen arguing with Mei Mei¡¯s mom. But that's not all, the director has made sure that all the details are intact.
In the scene, the Sikh character was seen wearing a navy-coloured turban and a uniform. He is also seen wearing a ¡®kada¡¯ which is an essential ornament when it comes to the Sikh community.
People on Twitter too have noticed this important detail in the trailer and are praising Disney Pixar and the director for not only introducing its first turbaned Sikh character but also because they are excited about the cultural diversity.
Much respect to Pixar for introducing a Sikh character, can¡¯t wait!!! At least Hollywood ?? knows how to treat Sikh¡¯s loyalty unlike Bollywood does ??. Just look at the details. The Sikh character even has a Kada in his right hand that¡¯s how much detail Hollywood goes into. ?? https://t.co/GYPtFqqsJW pic.twitter.com/4JnUf7jlc1

Some are seeing this as a win but tbh it just makes me sad. How many Pixar films have their been with no South Asian representation? Only to finally have a Sikh man as a minor security guard?

The Ofcom stats for SA rep are bad in the UK. I imagine they¡¯re worse in Hollywood. pic.twitter.com/6F8Jvv7VaV

However, despite this people aren¡¯t convinced as they feel that Pixar has stereotyped the fact that all the Sikhs or Indians work as security guards or taxi drivers in foreign countries. They also want him to have a significant role and not just be the laughing stock.
What do you think about this new character?
