Somehow down the line, Indian restaurants started a trend of putting up neon signs to advertise that they served "pure veg" food in their outlets. It seems these signs can be offensive to some people.

According to a survey by CNN-IBN from 2007, the vegetarian index in India consists of around 31 percent of the population. Surely, the number has only decreased over the years as meat consumption in the country has reached new highs. From recent surveys, we find out that meat consumption has peaked with a rise in income. As per the OECD, India consumed six million tonnes of meat in 2020.

It is the choice of the outlets themselves. If someone wants non veg they have many other outlets catering to them. And pure veg implies food that doesn't have even eggs. That's all.
