72-YO Man Gets Another Shot At Life Thanks To His Uber Driver Who Donated His Kidney

Tim Letts, a former US army veteran who now drives for Uber, was taking Bill Sumiel home from his dialysis centre. He had no idea how the ride would alter his course of events.

Bill struck up a conversation with them and confessed his need for a kidney transplant. After developing diabetes 20 to 30 years earlier, Bill eventually experienced kidney failure.

His doctors advised him to actively look for a kidney rather than wait on the donor list since he needed a transplant, according to local press sources. Bill's story touched Tim, and by the end of the journey, he had offered to give him one of his kidneys.

When Tim went to pick up Bill for an interview with a news outlet, he noticed that the location was further away from where he was. After learning that Tim was a war veteran, a fisherman, and worked the weekends as an Uber driver, Bill claimed he needed a kidney transplant.

Bill claimed that Tim was so amiable that he felt comfortable discussing his health problems with him.

After the conversation, Tim made the choice to donate his kidney to Bill. When Tim arrived at Bill's house, he left his name and phone number, demonstrating his sincerity in making the offer.

The man had waited for a kidney for 3-and-a-half years

Bill Sumiel waited for a kidney transplant for three and a half years before getting one. Tim turned out to be an "outstanding match," in the words of the doctors, which was fortunate for Bill.

"I told him, ¡®Thank you. I love you brother.¡¯ My wife is like, ¡®I¡¯ve got another son!¡¯¡± Sumiel said. ¡°He¡¯s my angel. He just came out of nowhere, and no more dialysis ¡ª no more getting up at 3 a.m. to start a terrible day," as reported by udel.edu.

Bill recently reunited with the Uber driver who saved his life by giving him a kidney in a heartwarming ceremony to mark the occasion of their successful procedure in December of last year.

On January 14, Bill shared a photo of Letts and him in the hospital on his social media page; the picture has since gained popularity.
