Mumbai locals are known for being the busiest urban rail system in the world. The trains are often overcrowded and it can be a quite a struggle to find a seat.
Yet, some people always come up with 'jugaad' and this is a prime example of that. A picture from the Mumbai local trains has surfaced on social media where a man can be seen sleeping on the luggage rack of the train. The man, wearing a pair of jeans and t-shirt, can be seen sleeping with his eyes covered with a cloth.
The photo was apparently clicked by a passenger onboard the same train and it is now doing rounds on the internet.
The picture was posted on Reddit with the caption, "a little jealous ngl".
As soon as the photo was shared on Reddit, it went viral. Many users are also started commenting on it.
¡±Doesn¡¯t the cloth over his eyes look awfully similar to a ladies¡¯ Kurta?¡± one user commented.
¡±Yeh samaj hume chain se jeene nahi dega (This society will not let us live in piece)," another user commented.
"NGL thought of doing this but resisted because we live in a samaj," a third user said.
Meanwhile, earlier this year Mumbai local trains were equipped with 'Content on Demand' service, where passengers could enjoy watching movies, TV shows, and news for free while travelling.
The initiate was launched by Central Railway in collaboration with SugarBox Networks.
According to an Indian railways
official, passengers' journeys will now be full of entertainment. Lakhs of people travel daily in Mumbai local train.
To make travel more attractive and convenient, Central Railway started 'Content on Demand' service in local trains in February. Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway said Central Railway is the backbone of public transport in Mumbai.
"We witness footfalls of 45 lakh passengers daily across our suburban network during pre-covid times. Often, for commuters, this travel time is an opportunity to spend uninterrupted time on their devices. And if we could empower them simply by integrating technology into our services, then it could strengthen our goal to stay future-forward and customer-centric," Lahoti had said at that time.
This service is completely free, passengers will not have to pay any extra charge for the service. Apart from watching entertainment shows, passengers can shop without spending internet data. To enjoy the free service, travellers will have to download the 'SugarBox app'.
