Virat Kohli¡¯s 50 lights up Chinnaswamy, becoming the first to cross 3500 runs at a single venue ¡ª even as RCB falters at home ground
Virat Kohli smashed his fifth fifty of the season and became the first player to score over 3,500 T20 runs at a single venue, owning the Chinnaswamy record despite Royal Challengers Bengaluru's home ground struggles.

New day, new record for Virat Kohli! On Thursday, ?the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener etched his name into cricketing history once again, becoming the first player ever to score over 3,500 T20 runs at a single venue. This remarkable feat was achieved during RCB's IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Not only this, the star batter also scored a solid 50, his fifth half-century of the season, giving his team a fitting start after Phil Salt was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga for his individual score of 26 off 23 balls. Kohli's innings was cut short by Jofra Archer at 70(42). Earlier, RR's captain, Riyan Parag, won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Virat Kohli shines at home ground despite RCB's flop show
RCB has lost four out of their nine matches in IPL 2025 so far, and here¡¯s the pattern¡ªall those defeats have come at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy. It¡¯s a venue that¡¯s turned into a bit of a curse for the team over the years, to the point where it¡¯s practically a meme now. But even as RCB stumbles in their own backyard, Virat Kohli continues to hold his ground and deliver.

Kohli has now become the first player in T20 history to cross 3,500 runs at a single venue, showcasing how dominant he's been at the venue. Between his international appearances for India and his long-standing stint with RCB, Kohli has turned this ground into his personal playground.
To put it into perspective, only six players have ever scored more than 3,000 T20 runs at a single venue. But among those who¡¯ve crossed even 2,000, no one averages more than Kohli. And when it comes to strike rate, only four out of the 21 batters with over 2,000 runs have managed to score faster than him.
He¡¯s racked up these numbers across 105 innings, averaging a rock-solid 38.9 with a strike rate of 143. On this very ground, Kohli has smashed 25 fifties and 4 centuries.
