Eight blasts ripped through several places across three Sri Lankan cities, including the capital city, Colombo. At least 290 people have been killed and 500 have been injured in the blasts. A curfew has been imposed in the country and it is on high alert for the next 10 days.
The blasts hit three high-end hotels and three churches in Colombo, while two other churches were targeted outside Colombo. The first explosions were reported at St Anthony's Church in Colombo and St Sebastian's in the town of Negombo just outside the capital.
These are the worst blasts to have struck the island nation in 10 years after the civil war ended in 2009. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.
Leaders from all around the world condemned the attacks and Kerala government formed a medical team of 15 experts to assist Sri Lanka blasts victims.
Several pictures and videos from the blast were going viral on social media. One such picture from the blasts that shows blood stains on a statue of Jesus Christ after a bomb blast inside St Sebastian church in Negombo.

This picture is proof of the horror that many would have experienced during the holy day of Easter. It also raises a question about the ideology and purpose the perpetrators aim to fulfill by murdering innocent people.

The blood-stained statue of Jesus Christ is also symbolic of the fact that violence against his creation is violence against God, and that even he does not condone it. We pray for the people of Sri Lanka.
